A New Era Begins at Balenciaga as Demna Bids Farewell
- Nada Armanious
After a decade as Creative Director of Balenciaga, from 2015 to 2025, Demna is officially stepping down from the House following his final Haute Couture show during Paris Couture Week in early July. So, what’s next for both the designer and the brand? Demna will now take the reins as Creative Director at Gucci, a move we’re very excited to witness.
As for Balenciaga, Italian designer Pierpaolo Piccioli, formerly at the helm of Valentino, will take over starting July 10. He’s expected to bring his signature blend of classical elegance and emotionally resonant design to the House.
Demna’s farewell collection was staged in the restored Paris salon of Cristóbal Balenciaga, serving as a reflective tribute to his enduring passion for craftsmanship, restraint, and architectural purity. His legacy at Balenciaga is defined by bold silhouettes, provocative ideas, and a disruptive design language that reshaped the fashion landscape. We cannot wait to see what’s next for both Balenciaga and Gucci.
